Union Health Foundation proudly celebrated the Bhuptani Excellence in Service and Bhuptani Excellence in Nursing Awards on Wednesday, April 8th in the lower-level atrium of Union Hospital. This annual ceremony recognized the outstanding dedication and service of health care professionals within our communities.
This year's event honored two remarkable winners: Kim Parish recipient of the Bhuptani Excellence in Nursing Award, and Meghan Whittaker recipient of the Bhuptani Excellence in Service Award. Each winner received a grant of $2,500 from the Bhuptani Family Fund, aimed at supporting their continued pursuit of excellence in their respective fields. The event also recognized the Bhuptani family’s commitment to the future of health care through scholarship awards that support and inspire the next generation of caregivers.
The Bhuptani Excellence in Nursing Award celebrates nurses who demonstrate exceptional dedication, compassion and commitment within Union Health. With over 30 years of service, Kim Parish has consistently ensured the best outcomes for her patients while mentoring and inspiring her colleagues.
Known for her calm presence and clinical expertise, Kim approaches every shift with professionalism and humility. From providing comfort to patients and families, to supporting her team and fostering collaboration across departments, her decades of service and lasting impact make her a deserving recipient of this honor.
The Bhuptani Excellence in Service Award celebrates individuals who demonstrate outstanding dedication, professionalism and a commitment to exceptional service. Meghan Whittaker exemplifies these qualities through her leadership, innovation and patient-centered approach as Imaging Educator and Chair of the Patient Safety Coaches Team.
Meghan consistently goes above and beyond, leading initiatives that enhance patient safety, staff education and organizational workflows. From developing system-wide safety programs to mentoring colleagues and coordinating community safety events, she fosters a culture of collaboration and accountability. Her innovative mindset and meaningful impact on patients, staff and the organization make her a deserving recipient of this award.
In addition to the awards, the Bhuptani Scholarships support students pursuing careers in nursing and respiratory therapy at Ivy Tech. These scholarships recognize academic excellence, compassion and a commitment to high-quality patient care while reflecting the values of service, leadership and integrity. This year’s scholarship recipients were Kelsie L. Yon in Respiratory Therapy and Brendi Glenn in Nursing. The Bhuptani family also provides meaningful support for pediatric therapy, helping ensure children and families have the resources they need to grow, heal and thrive throughout their care journey.
